Honored to speak at the Des Moines Embassy Club with the Des Moines National Security Forum, a program facilitated by the Command and General Staff College Foundation’s Simons Center located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Attendees of the forum meet periodically at events to learn about issues related to leadership and national security. On behalf of the West Point Association of Graduates, Marc Angle '99, and I had the honor and privilege of recognizing MG John C. Raaen Jr.’s (USMA ‘43 December) 102nd birthday celebration in Winter Park, FL. Back on June 6, 1944 in the Normandy Invasion, young Cpt Angle climbed the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc as an HHC commander in the 5th Ranger BN. Amazing of what these troops accomplished that day, and may we live lives of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

The UNICO Anthony Fornelli American War Veteran Award
Honored to have received the UNICO National Anthony Fornelli American War Veteran Award for distinguished military service to the nation. UNICO National is the largest Italian American Service Organization in America. The award was presented at UNICO’s National 100th Annual Convention & Italian American Awards Gala in Fort Myers, FL.

Mental advantage podcast with john cullen
Was honored to participate in a podcast with the co-author of our book, The Character Edge: Leading and Winning with Integrity, Dr. Mike Mathews on April 28, 2023. Hosting the podcast was John Cullen, president of Mental Advantage, and his teammate Brandon Allen: “No matter what your goals, it all starts with having the right mindset and the right system, in place”. (Cullen) The discussion went into many areas, including the entire University of South Carolina situation, where I decided to resign as a result. (Go to 22-27 minutes for this discussion). Nonetheless, if you want to listen to a frank, tough, and reflective discussion on character and its positive and negative consequences, spend a few minutes listening to this podcast.
The Simon Center for ethical leadership and interagency cooperation
As a Senior Research Fellow of the Simon Center for Ethical Leadership and Interagency Cooperation, I had the privilege of discussing my soon-to-be-published book, “The Impossible Mission” with the Simon Center trustees, and CGSC students and faculty. Students also purchased the book I co-authored with Dr. Mike Matthews, “The Character Edge”. Great to be with these future senior leaders of our Army.
Honored to study leadership with a great group of students, Basketball coach and Business School Dean from Salem University (Salem WVA), last weekend, on the Gettysburg battlefield. Always inspiring to be with great future leaders, and on such sacred land.
